Shira Lichtenstein, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and completed training in perinatal mental health. I am also trained in EMDR and am currently working towards certification. In my free time, I enjoy walking, movies, playing basketball, and spending time with friends and family. 

Philosophy

If you are feeling overwhelmed or just need some support to get through a difficult time, Anchored Therapy is here for you. I understand the complexity of emotions and struggles that can come up during times of great change. Anchored Therapy is a safe and empowering space for those who are facing difficult life transitions, emotional upheavals, and unexpected loss. As a trained mental health professional, I help people navigate through life's transitions and find their true internal resources. Together we will find ways to strengthen your inner resources and integrate all the knowledge that can be generated from your unexpected loss or major life transitions. I am dedicated to working with you to help you achieve your goals for your own personal growth and overall well-being.

When you come to Anchored Therapy, it is my sincere hope that you will feel safe, understood and supported. I genuinely believe that no matter what challenges you are facing right now, there is always a way forward, and together we will discover yours.

My Experience

I graduated college with a B.A. while completing a shaped major in psychology and education. I then earned a Masters in psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology with a concentration in children and adolescents. I also completed several advanced training courses in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). 

In 2016, I participated in The Contextual Behavior Therapy Fellowship at The University of Chicago. Later that year, I attended the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration where I earned my second Masters Degree, this time in social work. 

I completed my first year internship at Evanston Adolescent Day School while also volunteering and later working at Erika’s Lighthouse, a non-profit organization that educates school communities about teen depression. In 2018, I attended the Illinois Association of School Social Workers Conference with Erika’s Lighthouse that focused on trauma informed care, and in 2019, I co-presented at SHAPE America Conference for Erika's Lighthouse to help increase free programming for depression education in schools. I continue to volunteer at Erika's Lighthouse to this day.

I received my masters degree from in Social Work from The University of Chicago (SSA). I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and working towards getting my Perinatal Mental Health Certifiate (PMH-C). I completed training in EMDR with a perinatal focus. I am working towards certification.
