Everyone has ups and downs throughout life.

The ability to anchor yourself, especially when things are challenging, is one of the most important tools you can develop and incorporate into daily life.

Shira Lichtenstein, AM, LCSW

Through my collaborative treatment approach, I utilize a variety of evidence-based therapies tailored to the unique needs of each client. My goal is to equip individuals with the necessary skills to live fulfilling and productive lives. In my approach, I combine empathy, humor, and structure to support clients throughout their journey and guide them through the often vulnerable process of change. A foundation of safety and trust is essential for personal growth which is why I prioritize these values in my work. As clients navigate complex emotions and struggles, I strive to empower them with the tools necessary to thrive during significant periods of transformation. My approach is trauma-informed, client-focused, and oriented towards achieving positive solutions.

EMDR

EMDR therapy is a treatment that aids in the reprocessing of past experiences and minimizes the distress associated with those experiences. By using active bilateral stimulation (through eye movements, tapping, and other forms of stimulation), EMDR works to heal a wide range of symptoms. As part of this therapy, clients are guided through biofeedback exercises that enable them to monitor their physical sensations throughout the session.

Perinatal Health

As a new parent, managing intense emotions, reconciling your “parent identity,” and maintaining healthy relationships can be one of the biggest challenges you face. If you are struggling to manage your feelings and emotions, Anchored Therapy can help you navigate through these challenges and regain balance. Anchored Therapy specializes in using EMDR therapy with individuals who have experienced trauma during the perinatal period (preconception, pregnancy, postpartum).

Behind the Name

An anchor signifies safety, security, confidence, hope, stability, and consistent fortitude. Anchors are typically utilized to secure a ship or boat to a dock or shore. In the face of life's unpredictable ups and downs, anchoring ourselves during turbulent times can assist in maintaining balance and providing stability.

The anchor is a symbol of grounding and balance, even when life gets tough. It enables us to stay stable and resilient in the face of adversity. The waves behind the anchor depict how, despite strong winds, you can overcome your fears and gather the courage to move forward.

Given the right tools, everyone has the ability to heal, grow, and move forward.
